The Peacock Herniator is one of the best steelhead flies to use on the Klamath, Trinity or Rogue rivers for adult steelhead and half pounders. Use a floathing line for swinging in the the summer and fall. Use the larger sizes for winter steelhead fishing on a sink tip. If you are spey fishing for steelhead, it is also a great fly.

It was developed by a very experience steelhead fly fisherman who perfected the Herniator on the lower Klamath river. As the story goes, he was fly fishing with a friend who gave himself a hernia from all the steelhead he caught on it (or from climbing in and out of the boat).
